I guess writers didn’t know what to do with the story once ”one of us has to die” card was played. They didn’t know how to solve the situation,so they made Oh Soo forget everything.I see numerous other possibilities and outcomes, but they chose this .Since Oh Soo forgot everything,I guess they can start anew(technically old Oh Soo did die along with his memories, that’s why Yoo Ri instantly got better),and since he went through pains of a curse, and lost his loved one – maybe it’s allowed for him to be happy this time?(he paid his debt to the tree). They also probably wanted to show the power of fate.Like,if it’s meant to be no curse or obstacle or whatever – will prevent it from happening.Even after drinking that potion,he knows he’s supposed to find someone,he feels something is missing. He knows he made himself forget something important. He can’t get a grip because of the potion ,and yet somehow he has flashbacks of a beach.Of a woman sitting on a bench there. And YR always kept telling herself she can forget, but wasn’t ever able to truly let go no matter how hard she tried. No matter how much she suffered or told herself it’s just a fantasy – illusion – it’s not real.Everything and everyone tried to separate them, but they met again- with a hint of starting anew-it kinda means they can solve everything and find a way to be together no matter what – their bond passed the test.
Still…even though it’s not completely unsatisfying ,I can’t call it really good or satisfying either…I tend to appreciate things the way they are presented ,but I think we all hoped for a different type of a happy ending… I think there was too much suffering and Oh Soo losing his memory and coming back 3 years later…pfft.. I don’t know… whole closure wasn’t really convincing nor fluffy. It reminded me how much you can lose by letting someone too close. But I guess that, along with suffering is somewhat realistic…
Most welcome :) yeah..I laughed by myself having various sweet and simple theories for closure and then they come up with this… twisting story back and forth, not really being completely logical ..turning fluff story into something sad and kinda deforming it into something with very bitter background.. I kinda wonder though..if the tree and curse are actually metaphor for something…In any case, yes,at least we got happy ending (even if it’s not the one we were hoping for )
First of, really, really sorry for the late reply, I’m really busy these days and my life is a bit chaotic.
I wouldn’t say I was 100% invested, but I thought the story had begun with quite some potential. It possesses a mixture of elements I really like – and I also like to discuss various stories and their morals.
Thank you so much for the recommendation :D I don’t mind if a story isn’t fluffy as long as it has a good point or unique atmosphere. I will watch it and it’s already on my list, although I can not say exactly when I’ll be able to do that
no worries! I can *definitely* understand chaos. If you ever try My mister, I commented here and there on every episode (it’s turning out to be one of my all time favorite shows). I liked your input for this show so if you ever wanna share input just reply to one of my comments ;). Hope everything is going well !
Well they had to,out of fear that oh Soo might be broken again or that something bad might happen,I mean he almost ended up like his father. They probably thought it’s a good idea to keep them on distance..but then again, they weren’t that strict.Otherwise grandpa wouldn’t let her stay at the cafรฉ.. They were like..we’re not going to exactly send him to her door, but they also had consideration for both of them..and when it happened again – grandpa was like it must be destiny – it’s nothing us mortals can do about it anyway. I’m not 100% sure, but I think Oh Soo paid all his debt to the tree and can be with YR (although there are a bit of a plotholes there) – after all, the tree is gonna wait for the next successor …. Each of them has to experience suffering and loss of a loved one in his own way and deal with it in his own way… That’s the whole point…No matter what you do you have to experience that.
I had understood that too in a sense. But having someone confirm it even more depresses me. It’s like this show was not supposed to be a melodrama and they wanted it to have a melodramatic/poetic ending and it’s just off. Anyhow I wasn’t too invested (had stopped watching around episode 8-ish and kept coming back in here and there to check up on the leads). Glad I wasn’t TOO invested otherwise the ending would’ve bothered me MUCH more.

(he kinda even protected her, forbidding Ga Nah to do anything with the caffee – because he knows YR is suffering enormously and can’t move on with her life ) They were like..we’re not going to exactly send him to her door, but they also had consideration for both of them.. they simply tried to protect both of them and when they met again – grandpa was like it must be destiny – it’s nothing us mortals can do about it anyway. nice explanation, but i feel like a better ending would have been for oh soo to die, i mean, not all stories have a happy ending, but nice explanation.realy nice
Kinda lackluster, but then again that was most of the ep’s. lol Oh well, anytime you get something (eyecandy) out of a drama, it’s better than nothing. hahaha
What are you guys talking about? In a loooooong line of crappy Korean endingz ( they can’t do endings to save thier lives) this ranks in the top……..what do you expect from a series where the lead says, and I quote, “That tree killed my parents!!”…..
Who the hell wrote such a lousy drama? Hein! The drama started to get okay around episode 8 ish and they just threw it under the bus. WTF! Anybody knows the individual who wrote this piece of “Art”
Talk bout Mediocre. Writer tried to create controversy where controversy wasn’t need. If you’re going to create anxiety or a scary moment go all the way nah. Bring out the duppy from the tree, jeez. Story line and ending just choppy all over the place
I really was expecting a good ending to this series because of how slow the story was developing. As I watched the last scene I was like I cannot believe they rushed through the ending. I’m not dissapointed because I wasted time watching it, the dissapointment was more towards the fact that this series had so much potential.
Thank you for working hard!! I really enjoyed watching the drama!
But why have you need to make such an ending ayy haha! No everything’s Okay!
Thank you dramahood for making subtitles
Thank you everyone for working hard!!
What a lazy ending the main couple had at most 5 mins of screentime in the episode he though this was a good idea?
This ending has made the whole drama pointless now.
The whole drama was pointless, I was here to see Mr. Oh Soo’s smile ๐๐๐๐
I can believe this ending! what a lame ending…..
WTH!!!
this series had such a potential and this this utterly devastating ending….
Can someone explain this ending? Loool this series

thanks!! Sad this was the only ending they could think up, but at least the leads ended up together…

Seems to me you were quite invested in the show! Might I suggest Watching My Mister. Best thing airing right (my opinion anyway)

I thought they kinda inferred that the cycle would start again. The grandfather and bro were still trying to keep them apart…

Hahaha yeah it’s so off – almost as if magical Barbie story suddenly became philosophical with tragedy elements :’D

That ending pretty much sums up the series.
Kinda lackluster, but then again that was most of the ep’s. lol Oh well, anytime you get something (eyecandy) out of a drama, it’s better than nothing. hahaha

Well said!!!! Thousand claps from me๐๐๐๐๐๐ your comment made my day and lightened my mood after watching this epi๐๐
you made me laugh with that comment made me forget this drama
Who the hell wrote such a lousy drama? Hein! The drama started to get okay around episode 8 ish and they just threw it under the bus. WTF! Anybody knows the individual who wrote this piece of “Art”
OCN romance drama…urghh they should learn properly from tvN or JTBC to make it good
Meh.
What hack is the ending
Talk bout Mediocre. Writer tried to create controversy where controversy wasn’t need. If you’re going to create anxiety or a scary moment go all the way nah. Bring out the duppy from the tree, jeez. Story line and ending just choppy all over the place
This drama is such a mess, so dissapopinting from the begining to the end. at least I enjoyed Jonghyun’s beautiful smile.

they should have make mini series instead of this long drama, cuz it was so slow
Booooo Hisss!! ughhhh A little more effort next time production team. This was just too sloppy for words.
Thank you for working hard!! I really enjoyed watching the drama!
