  1. nelo says:

The main difference between the Korean version and the Japanese version is that in the Japanese version the teacher rescues the girl and actually becomes her mother while in the Korean version the teacher rescues the girl from abuse but neglects her lol

Also too much unnecessary characters and complications… not to mention too much focus on the relationship with the between the teacher and the doctor rather than with the girl…..

    • 매디 says:

She isn’t neglecting her. She doesn’t know how to be a mother which is why she’s working so hard to be one

      • paradox.of.fate says:

        The struggle is real…. ;)

      • nelo says:

Every parent starts out not knowing how to be a parent but that doesn’t mean they leave their child by themselves all day nor do they leave their child with people they barely know…. Yes, they are in a tight situation, but that doesn’t mean the neglect isn’t there…

        • Marrissa Lawson says:

I disagree with you there. I wouldn’t call it neglect because she isn’t leaving Yoon Bok,simply to leave her. She tries to get back to her in time and works hard at doing so. Being a single mother is difficult enough, but she is doing with tons of secrets, in order to make sure that her child is safe. I do agree that every parent doesn’t start out knowing how to be one that, but that doesn’t mean that when they HAVE to leave their child alone that it is neglect. They are doing what they think they have to do until they can find a better solution. In this situation, she is still trying to find a better solution.
The doctor hasn’t had to many scenes that would really suggest any real development, other than friendship.

          • nelo says:

I can see this is becoming a testy topic … I’m not saying I disagree with you. She’s in a very difficult position and she IS tying her best but she could have made better choices

For example, during the episode she leaves yoonbok in two public places (playground and a fast food restaurant) all alone when she could have at least taken her to a hotel to stay before doing her “work” but she didn’t.

In the previous episode, she leaves a sick child alone to spend time with her mother. I know she had to do this to get money but she could have said she couldn’t for one day (with whatever excuse). Her mother doen’t know where she lives so she could have spend a day nursing her child.

Yes, they don’t have much options but she still had better choices … that’s what bugs me

@@paradoxoffate:disqus well no Return until they can find a leading replacement. I guess it’s a good thing you’re watching Bridal!!! BINGO!!! I am gonna find something to watch too LOL

  3. Peg02 says:

The end was so intense. This drama makes me so sad. But I can’t stop watching it.

    • Chatelaineces says:

It is nice, isn’t to watch a solid drama? I struggled through 98 episodes of The Secret of My Love and it is down to two episodes. I know it is terribly written but I suffer from having invested 98 hours of viewing time on it. Black Knight just finished. Not exactly the perfect drama but had some issues. Still, a good enough fairy tale. So Call Me Mother is a relief. It is a remake of what is a truly well made and celebrated drama from Japan. It runs the risk of failing to live up to the original but appears to be well on its way to being an excellent production. Very good cast. Lee Bo Young is managing her characterization such that she does not over act or underplay her parts. She has the right amount of tears, fears, anger and fright under control. This is a great midweek drama to look forward to.

  4. FreeSpirit says:

TT this drama hits right in the feels

  5. KDrama admirer says:

    Tnx for the sub

  6. paradox.of.fate says:

As sad that it is her mother chained her to the orphanage fence, at least she did it with humanity, compassion and love hoping she would be taken care of. Unlike Yoon Bok’s crazy ass mom who abused that poor child.

    • DyingtobeinKorea says:

  7. booboop says:

I haven’t seen the original Japanese version, but this definitely gets into my core. Lee Bo Young is so effective in her character, same as the girl actress. The ost is also a plus. And as always, here is a detective whose suspicion is again dumped by his superior, just like in most kdramas. I’m glad I watched this. Another big Yey for tvN!
