  4. Adriana Demitrio says:

I’m off to watch ‘my sassy girl’ the movie i wonder how it is similar?

  5. DyingtobeinKorea says:

This is supposed to take place in the Joseon Dynasty right? So why is AC/DC’s Back in Black playing in the background at 11:00 mins in??

    • But I'm a Cheerleader says:

It’s not historically accurate and it’s not meant to be. I mean, a noble woman (princess?) wouldn’t be out like that even for sneaking out, nor would there be a modern style motel, etc, etc.

      • DyingtobeinKorea says:

Yes I know, but using “now” music when in fact that did not exist back then is annoying, to me anyway

        • But I'm a Cheerleader says:

I understand, but what do you think all that pop music in saguk dramas is all about? Every drama has “now” music, regardless of historical accuracy. Does that bother you too?

          • DyingtobeinKorea says:

If you are referring to music like IU in Scarlet Heart, her music and the music that was chosen was ok, didn’t bother me. Playing AC/DC and Chariots of Fire is questionable. Why does it feel like I am being interrogated for my opinion?

          • But I'm a Cheerleader says:

Probably because you can’t hear my tone through a screen. I’m not being antagonistic, really. I’m sorry, my intent wasn’t to make you feel that way at all, I’m just curious what you see the difference is.

I think that the Joseon style Chariots of Fire, and AC/DC is used perfectly in this kind of show. It’s funny and serves as a reminder we aren’t supposed to take it seriously or as historically accurate.

I guess I’m the opposite. It bothers me more when everything about a drama is trying to be accurate, like Scarlet Heart (or any saguk drama for that matter), and then some over the top modern pop song emerges during the angsty, emotional, or romantic scenes. It drives me bonkers.

          • DyingtobeinKorea says:

Well the new Hwarang wasn’t based on Historical facts and it did have “now” music and that was ok. Scarlet Heart had historical facts but wasn’t completely accurate.
As for Sassy and the music they chose, I didn’t like it I guess more becuz those two music pieces are classics and should not be in a parody. This is me. Whether the story is fictional or not music choice is very important and those two choices to me were not. I also heard Mission Impossible if my memory serves.
Also apology accepted. Yes it is most difficult to judge thoughts and questions on a screen this is why I asked, In this day and age, things are very touchy so better to be safe than sorry
